Working to Ride: Hank Arriazola

Hank Arriazola is a long time BMW rider with a passion for travel and photography. He’s travelled extensively in Mexico, Central America, South America, and Africa, putting 540,000 miles on his 1995 BMW R1100GS. Hank also runs a BMW repair shop called MotoHank and specializes in long distance travel preparation, getting the motorcycles ready, and helping out with the required documents and items needed for that specific trip. A conversation about travel, trip preparation and motorcycle life.

Why all the Hype about the GS Trophy?

In 2008 BMW introduced the GS Trophy, an international competition where riders from around the world take part in competing on some of the most challenging terrains in exotic locations, and they’ve since continued the competition with qualifier and final event sequels. Shawn Thomas - How Chance Leads to Change

Shawn Thomas was an experienced motorcycle salesman who found himself in the odd position of losing interest in riding motorcycles. And just as he was getting ready to give up riding, as serendipity would have it, someone walked in to the dealership he was working at and tried to sell him on something. Something that intrigued Shawn. And that chance meeting would lead to Shawn having what many would call one of the most desirable jobs in the motorcycle world.

Attitude Determines Altitude - Jo Rust

From the very beginning Jo Rust has set goals that required determination and perseverance. She’s had some big hurdles to overcome, has discovered new passions along the way, including her love of off-road motorcycle riding, and her attitude is that if she says she’s going to do something, she does it. Jo’s had a lot of firsts in her life, and by the sounds of it, she intends to keep on setting goals and achieving them. And we believe she will.

Darien Gap No Through Road | BMW Moto Raft

Between 2010 and 2013, Dylan Wickrama was on a world trip on his motorcycle. He left with no plans and he had a tight budget. On his trip he covered 210,000 km and road through 80 countries, starting in Switzerland and ending in Argentina. His RTW trip wasn’t about speed, distance or setting records, but it was about exploring the world, meeting people and discovering places.

Thom Rieck is an Exercise Specialist at the Mayo Clinic Healthy Living Program. He’s a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Certified Personal Trainer and PEAK Pilates Instructor. He has been working as a personal trainer for over 10 years and he’s also an avid motorcyclist. 
Thom has been riding since the age of 2, believe it or not, when his father took him out on his ’74 Honda CB 250 in a car seat. He now rides a 1995 BMW K75S, all on his own.

A Motorcycle Contest Adventure | Rider Skills: Weightless Rider

Luis Castilla started riding a motorcycle as therapy to help him deal with the death of his parents. It was something he became passionate about and in 2014, Luis and a friend rode from Mexico City to the Arctic Circle and back on BMW motorcycles. 
Then in 2015, Luis Castilla entered the Discover More competition with Harley-Davidson.
