How does attitude play a role in travel? And are we downplaying the inherent dangers and risk of travel? Is motorcycle travel safe?

David Prigel: I am sitting in a corner bar in Costa Rica. I am traveling with a group of 30, hence I am sitting at a bar alone. Many in the group long for cheese burgers and the familiarity of "home". I understand and also believe they are missing the culture. Is there a time when you felt things were going to hell in a hand basket and you just made an attitude adjustment and all was better than well?
TOPICS:
Inherent Dangers: We recently received a comment about last month’s RAW from a longtime listener, it’s not the first time we’ve heard this concern and likely won’t be the last. He/she felt that the RAW cast was talking down the dangers of traveling to known ‘risky’ countries. They felt that it was important to not make it seem as though it is always perfectly safe to go to these countries that may have inherent dangers or risks, and that it’s irresponsible to downplay those dangers and to encourage travellers to ignore news and travel warnings and perhaps put themselves at risk.
The panel discusses safe travel, are dangers downplayed or if we worry about everything, do we paralyze ourselves?
