Life is Short - It's Time to Ride - Jon Evans

Most of us spend our life trying to achieve a good work-life balance with the light at the end of the tunnel being a much looked forward to retirement. We work so that we can get by day to day, to pay the bills, buy a house, make time for family and friends all the while looking forward to the day when we have more time for doing the things we like to do. If we were to plot it on a graph there would be two lines - one ascending line growing with our retirement savings, the other our life line descending with each year. Except that one is fickle - you cant know when it ends. The trick is to try to figure out when to get off the merry-go-round, when to say, okay I’ve had enough and now I want to enjoy the rest of my life. Because if we wait too long, it just might be too late.

These were the kind of thoughts Jon Evans was having when he was at a low point in the adventure of life, having recently gone through a divorce. He sat at his computer vaguely scanning YouTube when for some reason a video caught his eye. By the time it was over Jon already knew what he needed to do - go to India and ride the Himalayas. The question was how. He didn’t have a budget, so he searched for the cheapest way to do this adventure - a tour company. Not just any tour company but the cheapest tour company he could find - and he was in luck because the company was right there and the trip was already planned - all he had to do was book the tour and go. But, what Jon couldn’t know was just how much of an adventure it was to be and what an impact it would have on him and his life.
