Listener Questions

Riding New Bikes - Travel Addictions - Carrying Water - Making Connections - Overloaded Motorcycles

Jay Benson: When a bike is launched it has no track history, no known faults, the weaknesses aren’t known - so how long should you wait before taking one of the new bikes on an extended trip? If you have the opportunity to buy a bike new, after it has been gently run in and had its first service, how long before you take that bike on the trip?

Martin Hermoso: Can traveling be an addiction? Do travellers feel that way all the time? And what’s the best way to carry water?

Andrew Lambert: What are some good sources of contact with other motorcycle overlanders or explorers besides social media such as Facebook or Instagram? I realize those are probably the easiest forms of communications but in my drive to pull my privacy away from the internet (as much as possible at least), I’d still like ways to connect with people.

Stuart Elliot: I had the bank holiday weekend away and it was the first time that my wife came with me, we had the panniers fully loaded and the top box half loaded. With myself and my wife on the bike we are over the Africa twins max load weight. What do people do about that? I increased the spring but I  am more concerned with subframe stress.
